Joining forces to restore the rainforest

Last year, we started three new partnerships to raise funds for tree planting in the Amazon. By collaborating with like-minded organisations we can achieve so much more…

Healthy You, Healthy Planet

We’ve partnered with a team of nutritionists from Odhealth, who are helping to create healthier people and planet. They offer support and guidance so their customers can make informed and sustainable food choices that will care for the health of their bodies and the planet – the two places that sustain our lives.

Odhealth only works with AFN Nutritionists, which is the only register of qualified nutritionists recognised by Public Health England, NHS Choices and NHS Careers. Not only do the nutritionists put environmental sustainability at the heart of their healthy eating plans to limit the impact on the planet, Odhealth has also committed to planting trees on behalf of their customers to restore the rainforest that’s already been lost.

For every stone their customer looses, Odhealth will donate £2 to Plant your Future so that we can plant a native tree in the Amazon. With lots of people looking for inspiration and support with their new year’s resolutions for a fitter and healthier 2021, what better way to take positive action for yourself and the planet.

Farm-To-Farm Support

We’ve partnered with family-run Berkeley Farm Dairy, an organic and Soil Association accredited farm based in Swindon. As the whole focus of our work is to support family farms in the Amazon to adopt environmentally-friendly initiatives, we were excited to hear from Ed Gosling (manager of Berkeley Farm) about their innovative plans to reduce their impact locally and take action globally by supporting rainforest restoration through agroforestry.

Berkeley Farm Dairy has been run by the Gosling family since 1908 and they supply organic milk, cream and butter to shops and wholesalers across southern England. They are about to launch a new enterprise called ’10 Green Bottles’ where they’ll be delivering locally produced groceries packaged in reusable containers. To further help reduce their carbon footprint, they’re using an electric van powered by solar to deliver the produce. They have started making a fixed quarterly donation to our work and in addition have committed to donating 10% of profits from their new venture.

We’re delighted that Berkeley Farm are looking for new and innovative ways of reducing their environmental impact and we’re excited to develop the partnership into the new year.

Together, Stronger

At the end of 2020, we started an innovative charity partnership with Break-off Labs, an online platform that helps scientific researchers to raise funding for their projects through crowdfunding and grants. They’ve just launched the Round-the-World Virtual Relay to raise funds for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Mathematics) research and to support Amazon restoration through Plant your Future.

They’re encouraging as many people as possible to take part in a virtual relay across every country on the planet. You can join in by running, swimming, cycling, walking, rolling down hills, or whatever activity you can think of. Together we can cover a distance of 200,000 km to circumnavigate the world, while raising funds for STEM research and rainforest restoration.

The relay has already begun but it’s not too late to sign up and get a sweat on, joining an online community of people taking climate action: labs.breakoff.com.
