Rainforest in a Box

Rainforests are incredible, filled with life that has developed amazing and unique ways of surviving the rainforest conditions. Plant Your Future wants children and young people to discover and learn more about this fascinating part of our world, and so has launched its first ever ‘Rainforest in a Box’ competition!

Create a Rainforest in a Box

If you’re between the ages of 6 and 14 years old, we want to see what imaginative and wonderful mini rainforests you can create using a shoebox (or box of similar size) and recycled materials collected from around your home and outdoors.

To enter the competition, email a photo of your finished Rainforest in a Box by 4pm BST on the 15th May 2020. Boxes will be judged by a panel of three — including Luis Campos Baca, a Professor from the National University of the Peruvian Amazon — on four criteria that includes creativity and originality. There are two age categories: 6-9 years and 10-14 years, and winners in both categories will win £50, with one runner-up in each category receiving £25!

To find out more about competition rules and where to email your entry, as well as ideas for creating your own mini rainforest, download our ‘Competition Pack‘. We also recommend you download our ‘What’s in a Rainforest‘ booklet. It will help get you started with learning about the rainforest structure, what it looks like and information about some of the incredible plant and wildlife in it. We’ve also put together some videos that explain how we made our  Rainforest in a Box, which you can watch below.

Good luck!!
