Carlos Munguia Malpartida
Head of Nursery, Nueva Esperanza, Ucayali
Carlos grew up in Huánuco and moved to the Ucayali area to escape terorrism in the region during the 1980s, settling there to farm with his family. He trained with Bosques Amazonicos in native sapling production, which made him ideally suited as our first nursery manager when we set up our operations in the region. His high standards and love of plants have made the Nueva Esperanza nursery highly successful under his leadership over the last 5 years. Carlos was one of the first smallholder farmers Plant Your Future worked with. Now not only is he a lead farmer, but he is also central to community engagement. His wife Carla and daughter Judi are often found working in the Nueva Esperanza nursery.
