Jenny Henman Quoted in Carbon Pulse Article on High Integrity Nature-Based Carbon Credits

We are proud to share that Jenny Henman, founder and chairman of Plant Your Future, was recently quoted in a Carbon Pulse article discussing the ongoing challenges around ensuring high integrity in nature-based carbon credits.

The article highlights the need for reform in carbon credit standards and addresses critical issues such as transparency and fair benefit-sharing. Jenny Henman, alongside Adam Gibbon of AXA Investment Managers and Mike Davies, CEO of the Social Carbon Foundation, contributed valuable insights during a panel at the CE-EM Forestry & Biodiversity Summit, held in London. The discussion explored how these challenges impact smallholder farmers and community-focused projects like ours in the Peruvian Amazon who are trying to use carbon finance to incentivise farmers to switch to agroforestry.

In her remarks, Jenny pointed out, “There is a big problem around intermediaries… The lack of transparency around what was originally paid for a credit remains a huge gap in solving the integrity problem.” She also emphasized the importance of improving standards to ensure that the people on the ground are fairly compensated for their work, noting that, “Improving standards around benefits-sharing is an area that is undeveloped in the VCS.”

For those interested in understanding what high integrity in nature-based solutions really means, we encourage you to read the full article on Carbon Pulse
