An evening of culture, canapes and important conversations – our fundraising event at the Peruvian Embassy.
Last Wednesday’s fundraising event at the Peruvian Embassy was a wonderful evening of culture, canapes, and important conversations. It was great to see the room filled with so many people in their finest cocktail dress, discussing art and sustainability against the brilliant backdrop of Tony Hutching’s Peru 1982 exhibit. The night’s raffle sale created a buzz of excitement as everyone was keen to get their hands on one of our incredible prizes – from fishing trips to delicious chocolates, there was something enticing for all!
We were blown away by people’s generosity on the night. Through donations and raffle ticket sales, we raised a total of £2710. These funds will support our smallholder farmers in the Peruvian Amazon, helping them implement agroforestry systems on their lands. The night’s donations will ensure our projects’ longevity, enable us to pay the salaries of our in-country team and invest in tools and resources integral to the planting process.

One of our long-term supporters, Sophie Holroyd, has written about the evening and her longstanding passion for our work. Her words illustrate that although some may be unable to be directly involved in our day-to-day operations, supporting from a distance is integral to the success of our charity. Read her inspiring words here.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who came to support us, the Peruvian Embassy and His Excellency Juan Carlos Gamarra for their hospitality, and Tony for sharing his incredible work with our guests. We would like to give a special shout-out to the volunteers who helped make the night a success, and to the businesses who generously donated raffle prizes – Chilly’s, Lima Fitzrovia, Andina Spitalfields, Tierra Peru, Mr. Popple’s Chocolate, Pachamama Bar and Kitchen.
Give us a follow-on social media for updates on future events. We look forward to it!
